Music shows, concerts, clubs, opera, DJ, symphony and all things in between.
I think it is 10% and I think it is too much. However, unless we are ready to do without subsidies to our arts organizations and public funding of other niceties around town, we are pretty well stuck with the government’s hand in our pocket. We can’t complain about taxes being too high without being willing to have fewer services.
I wonder how the money breaks down specifically, and how it compares with other cities like Asheville, Raleigh-Durham, or Charlottesville?
LET’S THROW A BOSTON TEA PARTY–DOWN WITH THIS RIDICULOUS TAXATION…
Instead of having a 10% meal tax,(which by the way affects local business owners)why don’t we increase the taxes on petrol? Oh, that’s right, President Bush IS still in office and every “soccer mom” that I know drives a Suburban or some other petrol guzzling hunk of metal. Come on people, we do not need anymore Hummers or Escalades…OR let’s tax Luxury items like these vehicles, jewelry, furs, electronics, non-essential items. Hmmmm….

Tax is 10% which is way too much on food.

the GST tax is I guess around 10 to 13% for all restaurants, isnt it . ?
