Grandin Village Community Market Offers Sweet Local Delights This Weekend!

n75398611903_1618767_3406565The Grandin Village Community Market sure is dishing out some of the best and finest local treats our corner of Virginia has to offer. This Saturday looks particularly tasty featuring Josh Smith, the ultra-talented head chef of Local Roots Cafe who will be handing out free, yes free, samples of some of his best local concoctions and with recipes too! MMM… never say no to FREE FOOD! Also, John Smiley, aka “The Urban Hobo,” will be playing live music from 10:30am until Noon.

If you didn’t know, each week the new market features one non-profit near and dear to their mission. This week’s pick is THE WESTON A. PRICE FOUNDATION, an organization dedicated to restoring nutrient-dense foods to the human diet through education, research and activism. Judy Harrington will be representing the foundation if you’d like more information. She’ll also be giving a demonstration on how to make homemade ketchup and mayonaise (the real stuff).

The Blue Ridge Poultry Coop will have fresh chickens for sale. Bridgett Decico will have her wonderful, and incredibly inexpensive, paintings on display and for sale. And of course who could forget all of the regular produce vendors offering an evergrowing abundance of vibrant and colorful produce and the first fruit(s) of the season!

Plus don’t forget to bring all your GREEN/BROWN/CLEAR/BLUE
glass to be recycled each Saturday!
(No caps or rings, no trash or butts, no broken glass)
