Brooklyn Indie Neo-Folksters in Roanoke

Brooklyn Indie Neo-Folksters in Roanoke

Two of Brooklyn’s most dynamic and in-demand acts, Robin Aigner and Annie Crane, will be in Roanoke for an intimate and up close performance tomorrow (Friday, October 9th) before opening for folk legend Emmylou Harris on October 14th at the inaugural night of Nashville’s “Music City Roots: Live from the Loveless Cafe” airing live on world-famous WSM radio and streaming live on wsmonline.com. Aigner and Crane’s spring ‘09 tour was so well-received that Annie, who entices with urban Americana, and Robin, who spices things up with old-timey/gypsy folk, are touring together again; this time October 8-18 with a stop in Roanoke at The Water Heater! Both Robin and Annie are promoting recently released and critically acclaimed albums: “Bandito” (Aigner) and “Through the Farmlands and the Cities” (Crane).

“Local Annie Crane plays fabulous folk with enough thoughtful twang to transport you back in time…and down South.” Time Out NY

“With wild hair and gypsy music, Robin Aigner brings an ache-y folk sound to the stage. Singing songs of Winnebago’s and the 1977 blackout, it’s is what would happen if The Mamas and The Papas merge with Loretta Lynn and picked up the ukulele.” Nuvo

annie_craneAnnie Crane’s music captures you with stories of immigrant grandparents, February ice storms, heartache in snowy Toronto and an industrially sweet Brooklyn love. Crane has played the Mercury Lounge, Rockwood Musichall and countless other famed NY venues. She has been featured at the New Jersey Folk Festival as a main stage act, at Make Music New York’s “Wagstock” (3 years in a row), has toured the Southeast and New England, performed on numerous radio programs (Americana Crossroads, WDVX’s Blue Plate Special, WTBU’s Over Yonder) and shared the stage with the Corduroy Road, Au Revoir Simone, Jean Richie and The Bowmans.

Robin Aigner’s quirky, irreverent and original old-timey/gypsy folk has a loyal following from New York to Nashville, New Hampshire to San Francisco. Former member of Crooked Jades and Royal Pine (and current member of Pinataland), Robin has toured extensively in the North and Southeast, been featured on countless radio broadcasts (WDVX’s Blue Plate Special, Americana Crossroads, WKCR) and festivals (Bristol Rhythm & Roots, Floyd Fandango, Make Music New York) and has shared either tours or bills with The Everybodyfields, Ian Thomas, The Be Good Tanyas, The Wiyos and more.

Now that you’ve read all about these amazingly talented women, you know you can’t miss this show…. And… what’s better than seeing these two live? Seeing them live for FREE of course! Be the first person to email info [at] upUPperiscope [dot] com and you plus a friend will get in totally free!
