Over the next few weeks we will introduce the Top 10 Mountain Biking trails in the Roanoke Region. Each week we will share a new trail mountain bike trail. We’ll include directions to the trail, a map of the trail, a short description of it and places to visit near the trail when you are done with your ride.
This week’s trail is Poverty Creek – a premier destination for single-track mountain biking.
What’s my recommendation?
- Come out to the Roanoke Vally Climate Rally there will be fun, games, things to see and do for kids and adults read on>>> – Don’t forget the 3rd Annual Into the Darkness 4 Mile Night Trail Run, it is a Halloween inspired event that will have you running the glow stick lined trails of Virginia’s Explore Par read on >>>
- Help keep our trails in pristine condition. Join local volunteers for a morning of trail work at Carvins Cove. When your done, go for a hike on one of the many trails at Carvins Cove!
- Take a ride down Wilderness Adventure at Eagle Landing’s 900′ Haunted Zip Line. Food also available read on>>>
- If you have kids and live around the New River Valley, check out Sinkland Farms Pumpkin Festival (1-5 p.m.) hayrides to pumpkin patch, mountain music and more. If you live in Roanoke, visit the Layman Family Farm corn maze, hay rides, and pumpkin picking.
- Grab your bike and try out the mountain bike trails at Poverty Creek. While you are there you may get to see some of the Rowdy Dog Mtn. Bike Race.
Only two weeks left to experience the Roanoke Mountain Campground. The campground closes 11/1. My family and I stayed there a few weekends ago and it was incredible. There were only about 4 other campsites occupied – what a hidden gem. From the campground you can easily access some of the best hiking trails in Roanoke including the trails at Mill Mountain, Explore Park, and the Chestnut Ridge Trail.
